Classcraft- Engagement system for K-12 Educators
Classcraft is a game that can be brought into your classroom to up your classroom managment. At the beginning of the game, the teacher and students will decide what positive behaviors will be rewarded and what types of negative behaviors will have consequences during the game. If a student is seen doing something positive they are rewarded with money to advance in the game, if the student is caught doing something negative, their consequence is losing health points.
I think that classcraft is a fun way to engage students in classroom management. Students have a goal to work towards everyday to advance to new levels, get new items for their characters, and they are excited to be caught doing the right thing. This is an easy way to have classroom managment in the classroom with out much disturbance from instructional time. Classcraft can be used as a learning tool and celebrating positive moments more than a way to embarrass a student or demean their character.
Education World
Educationworld.com
Education World is a website full of great information for both administrators and teachers. The website has six tabs available to uncover many wonderful resources; Teacher Essentials, Adminitrators, Lesson Plans, Technology, Prof Development, and printable templates. All of these tabs serve as great supports for educators. Each tab starts out with "What's New", a look into the newest trends or most important information for the reader. The Lesson Plan tab, is more of a quick lesson to pull out inbetween plans or if you need a five minute time filler before you transition to a new subject. Throughout the home page, there are quick articles you can rean, and different trends that are being spotlighted for the reader.
I think that this is would make for a great resource to introduce to staff to keep their lessons fresh and exciting! It might also be a great tool for planning for a substitute.
NetSanity
https://netsanity.net/teaching-children-responsible-use-technology/
With technology education being put more into classroom teachers hands, I wanted to find a resource that can help my teachers feel more comfortable with teaching Digital Citizenship. Digital Citizenship is teaching students to be responsible on the internet and allow them to stay safe and secure.
Netsanity can allow educators and parents to block apps, games, and give time limits to screen time on a students device. It can also filter YouTube channels to make sure our students are watching appropriate content that is acceptable for school.
Ted Talk
www.ted.com
Ted Talks are different sessions performed by educators discussing different philosophies, ideas, and educational trends.
This resource would be used for my future staff. I have seen many different Ted Talks that I have found very useful as an educator. As a future leader, I would be able to use Ted Talks to inspire my staff at the beginning of the year, bring up different education philosophies for discussion, etc. I can see that it will be very useful for my staff.
Kahoot
https://kahoot.it
Kahoot is an easy to use assessment tool for all ages. The assessment based website is a multiple choice resource that allows educators to create fun interactive assessments that are stress free for students, but allow for high engagement in their lessons. Kahoot can be used as a wonderful tool for pre assessment and post assessment.
For this week, I chose Kahoot because all teachers can use this tool. Speaking as a specialist teacher, it can be hard to use technology resources that students know from their own classrooms. It is also an easy tool to help assess students as a whole group without putting students an uncomfortable situation. I have used Kahoot in my classroom several times and I have observed other classroom teachers use Kahoot in their lessons. Students love using the iPads to participate, they love getting the answers correct and I have watched many students who are normally disengaged, light up when the Kahoot begins.
SeeSaw
https://web.seesaw.me
SeeSaw is a program where teachers, parents, and students can communicate throughout the day. Teachers and Students are able to share projects through pictures and recordings. Parents are able to sign up to recieve notifications when their students work is uploaded and they are able to view and comment through an app on their phone. All you need to access your students work is the SeeSaw app and your student's teachers login information. It is a easy to use app that keeps parents engaged and involved in their students education.
I have witnessed first hand the fun that SeeSaw can bring to a classroom. Parents enjoy being involved with their students throughout the day from work or from home. SeeSaw is also a great tool to use to assess students progress throughout the year. With the push for one to one iPads/computers for students, they are able to take SeeSaw to Music, Art, Spanish, and Library, were they can share their whole days experience with their families. As an administrator I would advocate for my staff to use SeeSaw in their classrooms. I want to keep an open door policy with my families and communities and SeeSaw would be a perfect start to open our classrooms throughout the year.
